![]() ![]() ![]() This film has some good messages: leave fish alone in the sea, don’t tap the glass of tanks, don’t shake the fish, your parents are careful because they love you and don’t want to lose you, let your kid grow and gradually become more and more independent, but one infamous myth: “All drains lead to the ocean.”***Only some drains lead to the ocean!***ĭefinitely inform your kids of this fact do not let them flush their fish if they want to free them after this movie! (□)Īlso, this movie is super funny, I loved Doey as a kid and I hope this is a respectful portrayal of what I now realize must be a disability (short-term memory loss-have not looked up if it is accurate at all though, it probably isn’t?). The opening mom-death-scene is probably the scariest scene in the movie. Nothing super terrible really happens to Nemo besides the trauma to him as an egg, his being taken by a human, and the threat of being given to Darla (who shakes fish). Twenty years ago when I saw it, I was fine, but my slightly younger friend was too scared by the shark and we had to leave the theater! A child being separated from their parent is also very scary, and the opening scene of the mom-clownfish and all-but-one of the clownfish eggs being eaten off-screen is very sad and will be scary for kids. This movie may be scary for children under 7. ![]() Spoilers included (you want the spoilers included if you want to be fully informed before showing this to your kid): ![]()
